Mowing

Mowing your lawn at the right time involves considering several factors such as height, amount of moisture in the ground as well as the grass, temperature, and frequency. Typically you never want to cut more than 1/3 of the grass height. This helps in preventing damage and restrict future growth. This also helps ensure that you're not accumulating too many clippings on the surface of the ground that will prevent oxygen, nutrients and moisture from getting to the root system.

Trimming

Trimming your lawn (around buildings, flower beds, fences, etc.) can turn a nice lawn into a beautiful lawn. Trimming removes the grass from areas that are more difficult for your mower to trim.

Edging

Edging will make your lawn the envy of your neighborhood! Sidewalks, Driveways and street curbs when properly edged will give your lawn that 'touch of class' that lets everyone know that you’re proud of your lawn.

Aeriation

Aeration is one of the most important components of a healthy lawn care system and unfortunately, it is one of the most overlooked components. Aeration is important in breaking up the crusted surface of a lawn, allowing moisture and air to penetrate into the soil providing vital nutrition for a lawn's root system.

Weed Control

Weed Control is very important in maintaining a healthy lawn. Weeds seem to be able to grow in almost any type of soil regardless of the weather conditions.

Nutrition

Providing the right nutrition for lawns in the Midwest, especially Southwest Ohio, can be a 'nightmare' to the inexperienced lawn enthusiast. Most Lawn Service companies would like you to believe that their "5-step", or "4-step" program will have your lawn looking plush and green like a golf course. Under normal conditions with 'average' rainfall, they are right! However, an average year of weather conditions in Southwest Ohio typically occurs only once in ten years! In fact, 2001 is the most recent year we’ve had that even approaches the average weather conditions for Southwest Ohio.

For this reason BRUCE Lawn Care customizes our nutrition program to each lawn based upon several factors specific to your lawn. Soil type and condition, type of grass, (and weeds), drainage, Ohio Dept. of Natural Resources guidelines and recommendations and Accuweather’s "Summer Predictions" are all considered before recommending a specific lawn treatment.

In general, lawn nutrition falls into the following categories:
